S.I Magazine Volume 7

Since the beginning of this edition, right until this very moment that I pen these words, I’ve been thinking… Daily, while driving to work or returning home after the day’s work, I see this set of people, patronize them if need be or, even, want to scream at them for being in the way. I rarely reflect on how they cope or how they ended up where they are. How many times have I smiled at them or, even, said: “Thank you,” after patronizing them? You call them ‘street hawkers’, I call them street champions! A day in the life of a street hawker sets the tone for this month’s edition of your bi-monthly companion. We bring to you the activities that shape their day and why they deserve your smile always.

It is one thing to have a dream, it is another to live that dream. One of Nigeria’s finest senators, not just by her looks, but also in her disposition to the welfare of her people, Senator Binta Masi Garba, takes centre stage, thanks to her dream to impact humanity the best possible way, which today, has become a reality. Read her story; it is that of a strong woman. Once called the ‘Haven of Art’ in Nigeria, Ushafa seemed to have faced out of the picture. We bring that story from down under; a story of love for the arts and the need to keep a people in touch with their culture. It is another edition, carefully and thoroughly prepared to inform, educate, inspire and entertain. Don’t miss a beat. Welcome to the month of August! Cheers! !! !!!
