S.I Magazine Volume 1

How exciting it is to usher in the New Year with the maiden edition of SI Magazine. It is that time of the year when everyone talks about his or her resolutions – from trying to make a positive impact in the society to achieving set out career goals. One thing is clear, this year promises to be an interesting year for us at SI magazine and hopefully our readers too. The New Year marks a compelling period for Nigerians as they march to elect new leaders. Whatever the outcome, I hope it paves way for more infrastructural and economic growth. In the spotlight, Maryam Augie founder Ayahay foundation gives us an insight into her busy world and the work her foundation is doing in alleviating the suffering of the less privileged in our society. We also catch up with Aisha Umar and Jimoh Salihu who have different stories but yet share the same ultimate goal of survival.

The Swahili proverb “Unity is strength, division is weakness” resonates so well with the inspiring story of togetherness among the people of Tipto in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa state. We feature a short documentary highlighting the unity in this community despite the infrastructural challenges. Interacting with fellow human beings is a necessity, yet this can prove to be a difficult task when dealing with different kinds of people. Coping with humans whose behavioural tendency are likened to a rat gives an interesting angle on dealing with friends and people around us. Let’s make this year count.
