“Women Community In Africa (WCA) Representatives Pay Courtesy Visit to National Human Rights Commission, Discuss Partnership For Gender Equality And GBV Eradication”

Today, representatives of Women Community in Africa (WCA), the advocacy arm of Beyond Mentors Community Care Initiative BMCCI had the honuor of paying the Executive Secretary, National Human Rights Commission Abuja a courtesy visit.

The purpose for this visit was to appreciate the commission for it’s unwavering support and to discuss other possible areas of Partnership moving forward.

The Vice President WCA, Mrs Adetoun Dally emphasised on the need for a collaboration between Civil Society Groups and National Human Rights Commission in order to create a society that is free from all forms of Gender Based Violence by ensuring that positive impact is made from the grassroots leaving no gender out of the transformation, she made mention of this while introducing Women Community in Africa and the impact the advocacy arm has recorded so far.

The CEO, SI Group of Companies, Hajiya Khadijah Abdullahu Iya appreciated the Executive Secretary of the NHRC, Mr. Tony Okechukwu Ojukwu (SAN) for the continued and unrelenting support which the commission gave WCA for her events and programmes even without ever meeting them before, she urged for other commissions to follow suit, rendering assistance to Civil Society and Advocacy groups without requesting for financial aid in return.

The Executive Secretary of NHRC, Mr. Tony Ojukwu commended the work and efforts of Women Community in Africa and other Civil Society groups for taking an active stand in transforming the lives of Nigerians regardless of the tough economic situation

He commended the advocacy arm’ interest in the boychild and the ongoing work in grassroots mobilisation in ending GBV across the nation. He pledged the support of the NHRC to all activities that would be carried out by Women Community In Africa and her other bodies.

Stating the activities of NHRC for the year 2023, the Executive Secretary announced that Women Community in Africa would play an active role in expanding the influence of the National Human Rights Commission across every state and local government area of the Federation.
