Shocking Incident in Kwali Market Leaves Man Injured

A startling incident unfolded at Kwali Market in the Kwali area of the FCT Council on Tuesday, involving Jamilu, a 36-year-old man who was knocked down by a vehicle while attempting to escape with food belonging to Mrs. Patience Raphael.

After Mrs. Patience Raphael finished purchasing food items, including rice, beans, garri, and yam, all packaged in a sack, the unfortunate event occurred.

According to a witness, the incident occurred around 11 am when the suspect pretended to assist Mrs. Raphael in carrying her groceries from the market to a vehicle parked by the roadside.

Mrs. Patience Raphael had bought various food items, including rice, beans, garri, and yam, which were packaged in a sack. The man from whom she purchased the goods attempted to summon a wheelbarrow pusher to assist her, but Jamilu intervened, feigning assistance. However, he soon rushed to cross the road in an attempt to escape with the stolen goods, only to be struck by a passing vehicle.

Ibrahim Audu, a witness, stated that Mrs. Raphael was trying to secure the services of a truck pusher to transport her sack, but the suspect pretended to assist her to the roadside.

Jamilu sustained bruises and a fracture and was subsequently taken to the hospital by vigilantes.

City & Crime reported a similar incident occurring last week when a truck pusher fled with a woman’s bag of rice and other food items from the same market.

Citizens are urged to remain vigilant to prevent theft or loss of belongings.
