Miss Lawal Karimat, a 300 level student of History and International Relations at Osun State University, has received generous donations totaling N1.8 million and N250,000 from Delta State University, Abraka, to aid in her medical and educational needs. Karimat’s journey of adversity began with a tragic motorcycle accident that resulted in the loss of her foot, compounded by financial constraints hindering proper medical care. However, the compassionate intervention from Delta State University has offered her a glimmer of hope amid her struggles.

Karimat’s life took a drastic turn following a debilitating motorcycle accident that led to the amputation of her foot. The subsequent loss of her foot and the inability to afford adequate medical attention plunged her into a state of physical and psychological distress. Despite the challenges, Karimat’s determination saw her secure admission into Osun State University, where she pursued her academic aspirations.
However, her hardships escalated when her fiancé, a pillar of support, abandoned her due to her disability, pushing her to the brink of despair. In dire need of both a prosthetic foot and financial assistance to complete her education, Karimat’s plight reached the compassionate ears of Professor Victor F. Peretomode, the Vice Chancellor of Delta State University, Abraka.

Upon learning of Karimat’s ordeal, Professor Peretomode and his wife, Dr. (Mrs) Otaroghene Peretomode, initiated efforts to aid her. Mobilizing the resources of Delta State University’s staff, they embarked on fundraising endeavors to alleviate Karimat’s financial burdens.
Expressing profound gratitude, Mrs. Lawal Oluwafunke Temitope, Karimat’s mother, hailed the Peretomode family and the entire Delta State University community as divine instruments of assistance. She fervently prayed for blessings upon Delta State University and the Peretomode family for their benevolent act.

Dr. Adesola Adesotin, representing the management of Osun State University, lauded Delta State University’s exceptional display of compassion and solidarity. He commended the Management and Senate of Delta State University for their unprecedented support, emphasizing its exemplary nature and its potential to inspire similar acts of kindness.
Karimat’s journey from adversity to hope serves as a testament to the transformative power of compassion and communal support. Through the collaborative efforts of Delta State University, Abraka, and the unwavering resilience of Karimat, a brighter future beckons amidst the shadows of despair.
