The Lagos State Police Command, in collaboration with health officials, has initiated the process of exhuming the remains of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad. Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and was laid to rest in the Ikorodu area of Lagos the following day.
His untimely death had sparked outrage among his fans, prompting protests in Lagos, Ogun States, and various parts of the country, as they called on the police to uncover the circumstances of his demise.
In response to these demands, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, ordered a forensic investigation to determine the cause of his death.
Following the IGP’s instructions, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, assembled a ten-person team, including a pathologist, to carry out the exhumation and investigation of Mohbad’s death.
Owohunwa, leading the team, visited the burial site and is also scheduled to meet with Mohbad’s father at his residence in Ikorodu.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the ongoing exhumation during a phone call with our correspondent on Thursday.
