A devastating explosion shook the community of Iju Ishaga in Lagos state today, leaving residents in shock and causing significant damage to buildings in the area.
According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the explosion originated from a store containing cooking gas, triggering a massive fire outbreak that engulfed several structures along Ogun Street, near Balogun bus stop.
Residents of Iju Ishaga are now grappling with fear following the incident, which occurred amidst reports of heightened tension in the area. However, NEMA has reassured the public that the situation is being effectively managed by the Lagos State Fire Service, urging residents to remain calm.
Ibrahim Fariloye, the Southwest coordinator of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed the incident and provided further details, stating, “It was reported that a store containing a cooking gas cylinder exploded shortly after electricity was restored, sparking the explosion.”
