The ongoing spree of kidnapping incidents targeting both individuals and communities has inflicted severe consequences. With each successive abduction, victims and the affected neighborhoods endure escalating levels of psychological trauma. This, coupled with the significant financial strain caused by ransom payments, has led to a palpable erosion of mental well-being and a sense of safety both on individuals and communities levels
At approximately 6:30 PM on Monday, Isah Abdul, a 35-year-old high-profile kidnapper, was apprehended by operatives of the Nigerian Air Force deployed at Durbunde in Takai Local Government Area of Kano State. The arrest follows intelligence information about the hideout of a notorious kidnapper and his gang.
Director of Public Relations, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, revealed that Abdul and his gang were responsible for the abduction of Yakubu Ibrahim Tagaho, also known as “Sarkin Noman Gaya,” from his residence in Tagaho Village on April 6, 2023.
The victim was released a month later after a ransom of N30,000,000 was collected.
In December 2023, Abdul carried out another abduction in the same village, targeting two sisters and three others, who were released after a substantial ransom was paid.
Abdul’s involvement in numerous kidnapping activities extends beyond these incidents, as he is also believed to be associated with other known kidnapping gangs.
Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet further revealed that Abdul is currently in the custody of the Nigerian Air Force, undergoing investigations, and will soon be handed over to appropriate authorities for further proceedings.
