In a shocking case of child exploitation in Auchi, Edo state yesterday, the Edo State Police Command has arrested a father who used his 4-year-old daughter for adult content. The arrest came after Nigerians on social media drew attention to obscene photos of the minor posted on an Instagram account handled by the suspect.
The photos, seen by LIB, show the minor in suggestive poses and thongs, as well as with grown men in hotel settings. A flyer announcing the child’s birthday party, scheduled for May 28, 2024, at Spring Leaders Montessori School in Auchi, also raised alarm.
Spokesperson SP Chidi Nwabuzor confirmed the arrest, stating that the Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye, promptly deployed a tactical team to apprehend the suspect and his cohorts.
The father was arrested within 12 hours, and investigation is ongoing.
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has warned the public against sharing photos of the child, stating that it constitutes Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSCAM), a crime. The agency is working to contact Meta to bring down the accounts and track the offenders.
