Vigilantes and Hunters Rescue 40 Hostages from Kidnapper’s Den in Taraba State

A kidnappers’ den situated atop Gongomaliki Mountain was stunned by hunters and vigilantes on Saturday, as they embarked on a daring rescue mission.

Forty hostages, hailing from Dilla, Lanko, and Gampu communities in Yorro LGA, as well as Dekko and Kotsensi communities of Monkin B ward in Zing LGA, were successfully liberated in a joint effort by the vigilantes and hunters in Taraba State.

Taraba State Commissioner of Police, CP David Iloyanomon, confirmed that the rescued hostages were promptly taken to the police clinic for examination and treatment following their liberation. He revealed that among the rescued individuals, one had suffered the loss of an eye, while another, sustaining a gunshot injury, remained hospitalized.

In a display of law enforcement’s effectiveness, CP Iloyanomon also announced the apprehension of 10 suspected kidnappers in various locations within Ardo-Kola local government area of the state.

Assuring continued efforts towards safeguarding the state’s security, he emphasized the commitment of the state police command to collaborate closely with local security apparatus.

This is a mix of relief, empowerment, concern, and a renewed demand for unity, and sustained efforts to fight insecurity.
