A raid operation against substandard drugs was carried out in Area 1 Motor pack Abuja yesterday by some NAFDAC officials. During the process of raiding the park, hoodlums attacked the enforcement officers including mobile police officers, by throwing stones at the agency’s vehicle, thereby breaking its windscreen.
In order to stop them the police officers had to shoot into the air several times and released teargas to cause discomfort for the hoodlums so that they will run away before journalists and the NAFDAC officers could hide for safety all of this took quite an effort of the police officers.
As said by Umar-Ahmed Sulaiman, the team leader and assistant chief regulatory officer NAFDAC that, “Area 1 motor park is a troublesome area for essential drug sales and the enforcement unit will be going back there to complete the operation”.
Despite the attack, the enforcement team did a seizure of more than 5 million naira value worth of drugs including Rohypnol, Dizapam, Tramadol 500mg, Tramadol 225mg, Cocodamol and so many other aphrodisiacs with some codeine syrups.
This raid was carried out yesterday in Area 1 in the sense of concluding the exercise which was started in 2023, as a result of an intelligence report received from DSS. Although some part of it was done back then.

Attacks like this on NAFDAC is why anytime they are going on a raid they go with their armed mobile police officers, and Investigative Police Officers in case of any arrest.
Mr Suleiman the team leader, however, said the enforcement unit would reinforce, prepare more, and do the needful.
