In Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State, the remains of an unidentified woman have been discovered in a state of decomposition. Reports indicate that the body was found without its head at the time of discovery.According to witness Kinsley Alozie, who spoke to reporters on Monday, the headless body was sighted near Ohiya Mechanic Village, towards Abia Towers. Engineers who were laying cable in a previously dug gutter made the unsettling discovery. Alozie revealed that the overpowering stench emanating from the decomposing body forced the workers to halt their project, awaiting the removal of the body by the appropriate authorities.In an exclusive audio recording shared by Alozie, an unnamed engineer in charge of the cable laying project described the incident. He stated, “Yesterday my team discovered another corpse. I received the call while I was at church. This body was found a short distance from where we discovered the previous body. The location is just after Mechanic Village, on the way to Abia Towers. In this case, the victim’s head had been severed.”Providing further details, the engineer explained that the workers had previously dug the gutter in preparation for cable installation. However, upon returning to lay the pipes, the unbearable stench prevented them from continuing their work.He added, “We didn’t remove the first body, and now, there is this second one. It’s not near the road, just two meters after the gutter.”In response to the situation, ASP Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, has been contacted. She assured the public that the matter would be investigated promptly, as it had not been previously reported.The discovery of two bodies in the same area has sparked fear and concern. It is crucial for a thorough and expeditious investigation to be conducted to prevent this location from becoming a grim dumping ground for corpses.
